Long, long ago our venerable founder Jerry learned PostScript from Adobe engineers back when he worked at Aldus in the old PageMaker days. His late night kitchen table hacks resulted in the ElseWare Barcode Kit, published Ben & Clyde of 729 Club fame. Azalea Software, Inc. was born in 1992.
“Why Azalea?” you ask. Because Squid totaled the car in Azalea, OR (97410). And azaleas makes for a really nice logo (thanks Ole) and we all know Jerry loves flowers.
We like our jobs and take great pride in what we do. We’re both old-school digital font foundry and contemporary telecommuters, working with laptops and cell phones with no physical office. We’ve been known to frequent Freshy's and consider ourselves cybergypsies or inhabitants of what the NY Times calls Laptopistan.
We really do love barcodes - don’t take our word for it, check our blog.
Miranda and Jerry are assisted by a a small core of barcode nerds and roving co-workers who help with development, marketing, and operations. The photography throughout the site is by Randall Foster, Stiff Peaks Photo. Our corporate culture can be described as aggressively family-friendly.
Working smart, not hard. Striving to work with our customers and partners with loving compassion. Finding happiness, laughing a lot, doing whatever we can to make the world a better place. Life is good.
Did I mention we have a sense of humor too?
